What's up travel bud? My name's Jamie...

I’m a travel blogger and freelance writer. Welcome to my blog where I share my travel stories plus tips, destination guides, photography and basically all things travel.

If you’re interested in travel and want to learn more about it and even how to start travelling yourself, you’ve come to the right place. I want to show you what an amazing place the world is and inspire you to travel through my writing.

Why I write

I was never 100% sure what I wanted to do when I left school but I knew what I didn’t want to do. I never wanted to get sucked into the 9-5 world and wake up one morning, realising my life had passed me by. At all costs, I wanted to avoid being stuck in a job that I hated.

So, after I left school, I headed out to Japan for a year and was bitten by the travel bug. I knew that travel was something I wanted to do. It was a passion I wanted to pursue, but I needed some way to fund it. I worked as a ski instructor and in a hostel during my time in Japan and even did a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course. After a while, I decided to start a travel blog (Gaijin Crew). I love the process of creating travel content (and just content in general) and sharing it with the world.

Since leaving school I have realised that I don’t need to conform to societal norms. With the rise of the internet, there are now more opportunities than ever before to live life on your own terms. Whether it’s writing, creating videos, making music or any other art form, it’s now more possible than ever to live the dream.

I write because it allows me to travel and work from anywhere in the world and – through my writing, I can show others how they can do the same.

Where have I been?

Probably the most common question any traveller gets asked, right?

So far, in my 19-year life, I have travelled to 16 countries including Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Canada, USA, Spain, Italy and more. For me, it’s not about how many places I’ve visited or how long I travel for. Travel is not a race or a competition. For me, it’s about my experiences in each place; the people I travel with; the people I meet on the road; the memories I make; the stories I write. Of course, I want to visit more places but I will be keeping track of my experiences, not my destinations.
